Awiten’s Adventure
The wedding will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026. Yes, we know it’s Monday, but you are already taking some time off anyway.
It will be at Emerald Antipolo in the Philippines.
Sidenote: We love them but this is a kid-free wedding (aside from our ring bearers)

Booking Flights to the Philippines
Main Airport: Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Manila (Airport Code: MNL).
Recommended Airlines: Philippine Airlines (direct from Seattle now!), ANA, Korean Air, Delta, United, Korean Air, Singapore Airlines.
We would recommend you stay in Manila and just travel to the venue (about an hour away), but if you are planning on getting hammered, here are some spots not too far from the venue we would recommend.
Luljetta’s Place Garden Suites
*Any hotels in Ortigas since the exit is close to Emerald’s place
Spots in Manila we would recommend
Microtel by Wyndham in Quezon City, Acropolis
Luxent Hotel in Quezon City, Metro Manila
Privato Hotel in Quezon City, Metro Manila
Summit Hotel inside Robinson Mall
(Sidebar: we all hate capitalism, blah blah blah, but you NEED to check out the malls in the Philippines, they are on another level ESPECIALLY since we are so close to Christmas time.) Make sure to check out the biggest mall in Asia, SM Mall Of Asia. SM is our favorite Brand of Malls.
Dress Code
We are going to have a strict ALL BLACK dress code. Seriously, all black, no white shirts, etc. While the color theme is strict, we are a little bit more lenient on what you wear; we want you to be comfortable, but we do still want a nice presentation. Here are some examples of acceptable outfits.
Optional 3-Day Boracay Excursion (Jan 6-9…Noice)
We are guessing you won’t be flying in just for the wedding, and if that’s the case, we are planning a PRE-Wedding trip to Boracay! (Jaw’s favorite place in the Philippines.) This is where you will get all your sun and beach time.
How to Get to Boracay:
Fly: Manila (MNL) → Caticlan (MPH) – about 1 hour
Best Airlines: Cebu Pacific. This airline is like Frontier or Spirit, but actually reliable. From Manila, it’s a plane ride that is less than an hour long.
Once you land in Caticlan, you will take a 10-minute van ride to the Jetty Port. There, you must pay for and complete a form to keep the island clean.
After that, there will be a 15-minute ferry ride to Boracay Island. (#NoBridgeBoracay) Then you will need to take a van or Tricycle ride to your hotel.
*If possible, we recommend packing everything in backpacks and not bringing luggage. It’s doable, but it's kind of a hassle with all the transportation and transfers.
Recommended Boracay Hotels:
Recommended Boracay Hotels:
• Luxury: Shangri-La’s Boracay Resort & Spa, Discovery Shores
• Mid-Range: Henann Prime Beach Resort, Coast Boracay
• Budget-Friendly: La Carmela de Boracay, Boracay Uptown
• Insider Information: Microtel by Wyndham Boracay
Boracay is designed with 3 Stations, Station 3 is where all the boats for daily activities are. Station 2 is where all the food and bars are, and Station 1 is the quiet beach part that is mainly expensive hotels. We recommend staying in Station 1 or 2.
Travel Tips for the Philippines
Money
Generally speaking, 1 US dollar is about 50 Pesos. Most places do take cards now, but you will still need/want cash AND A COIN POUCH. Our “Cocktail Hour“ is going to be a Mild-Gambling hour instead (Don’t worry, we will still have booze.) We will be playing a Filipino Game that will need a variety of pesos, preferably in 100s/1000s.
Best Places to Exchange:
• Malls (especially SM, Ayala Malls) secure, better rates than airports.
• Czarina Foreign Exchange (located in Makati, Quezon City).
• Banks- safe but slightly lower rates.
• Avoid: Airport currency exchange booths — rates are usually lower.
Another option would be GCash (Philippine Venmo), some places accept that as well.
Getting Around
• Grab App (Philippines’ Uber): This app is best for private rides around Manila and Antipolo. This would be the best option as you can’t get overcharged.
• Taxi, we wouldn’t recommend due to overcharging.
Jeepneys (are technically an option, but not very practical, but iconic to the Philippines. )
We strongly recommend NOT renting a car.
Cellphone Data Rates:
T-Mobile rate in the Philippines is 10 dollars extra a month for data
Verizon is 12 dollars a day (We know it’s basically highway robbery)
Most places have Wi-Fi, but we wouldn’t recommend planning on going just off of public Wi-Fi. Another option would be to buy a pocket wifi or a SIM card. The airport should have a kiosk, but most gadget stores in the mall would have what you need. But honestly, take the W if you have T-Mobile, that’s the easiest and cheapest.
Island Hopping Airlines
When flying between islands (like Boracay, Palawan, Cebu, Bohol), the Best Airlines for Domestic Travel:
• Cebu Pacific Air: Budget-friendly, watch out for add-on fees. (THE BEST ONE)
• Philippine Airlines (PAL Express): Most reliable, includes baggage.
• AirAsia Philippines: Cheap fares, but limited schedule compared to PAL.
